A Gay Hero? Super!

It is being reported that Hero, the novel by Perry Moore about the world’s first gay superhero, is going to make its way to television. It is a book I read and enjoyed thoroughly, being that I like both superheroes and gays, so this is welcome news. If memory serves, the narrative arc of Moore’s YA action-and-angst novel was fairly succinct, but it seems in translating the material to the small screen things may not be so linear. Says Moore:

[T]he live-action series as labyrinthine and similar to Lost. “It’s not campy either — it’s not The Gayest American Hero. He just happens to be gay. It’s just one of the many things he wrestles with.”

That is an intriguing prospect. Though also captivating is the idea of The Gayest American Hero. Can that perhaps be the second gay superhero show to be developed? Because seriously…comedy gold. [Vulture]

  1. Um, when you say “first” you’re clearly forgetting the Ambiguously Gay Duo!!

  2. And Aquaman. Clearly gay.

Well, true, but…their spin not mine! And this one is not ambiguous, so!

  4. ephemerist says:

As for Aquaman…not so much gay as…just…dude, he talks to fish. He’s got a whole lotta something else going on!

  5. Yeah, he’s probably a-sexual. Just sub-divides like one of his amoeba friends.
