Why with each new bit of information learned about the HBO film version of Grey Gardens am I filled with a vague presentiment?
In addition to the mush-mouthed cutie Drew Barrymore as Little Edie and Jessica Lange as Big Edie, they’ve cast Jeanne (“Big Love”) Tripplehorn as Jackie O. The production is filming in Toronto. Also, the script for GG is incorporating the Beale’s past (a la the musical), while also including as a character Albert Maysles — one of the brothers who shot the original, much-adored documentary— for some sort of meta-ness of filming a documentary within a film?
And the writer/director, Michael Sucsy (is that pronounced sucks-see ?), is a former production assistant and background talent wrangler.
Are they trying to make this horrible on purpose? Why?
