First there was Austin Grossman’s Soon I Will Be Invincible, now there’s Perry Moore’s Hero. (Technically, Moore’s book falls in the teen lit arena, but since it deals with a gay superhero methinks it will appeal to adults and kids alike.)
Is the superhero genre the new place for novelists to explore issues of sexuality, alienation, and existentia suffering? Will the stories be as compelling to non-comic book fans? Or is this just a pop culture blip? Just Askin’.
