Divining My Current State Of Mind Via iTunes

ipod.jpgShould you be tempted to assess the current state of my mental decline, or just wonder how my musical tastes are skewing these days, below are the five most recent songs I purchased on iTunes:

1) Sparrow — Simon & Garfunkel

2) Let’s Hear It For the Boy — Deniece Williams

3) Wedding Bell Blues — The 5th Dimension

4) Aquarius/Let the Sun Shine In — The 5th Dimension

5) (Last Night) I Didn’t Get to Sleep At All — The 5th Dimension

Amateur psychologists, have at it!

  1. “Let’s hear it for the boy” was the first song we heard upon arriving at the Grove hotel, so perhaps it’s your yearning to be back in the safety land of vacation. The dirty hippie in you is not dead, only lying in wait, as clearly seen through such a profusion of 5th Dimension songs. And Simon and Garfunkel, while harmless in and of themselves, when paired with the other choices, seem to more represent the aging, more sedate music which your body realizes is the natural progression of things, given your advanced age…

Well…5th Dimension are more the easy listening/palatable suburbanization of the hippie aesthetic… But yes, the S&G, particularly that song, does emphasize a certain awareness of one’s mortality that comes with advanced age. Kudos!

At some point, I should graph my level of drunkenness with the actual songs purchased. That’d be illuminating.

  3. You could make a pie chart.
