Baffling urban phenomena: New Yorkers have had the mysterious “maple-syrup smell” to contend with, and now Londoners are visited by pink clouds. But lest you think this is some apocalyptic harbinger, or some sort of biochemical terroristy attack, it is not. A spokesman cleared the, er, air: “If you have very high cloud, as we did last night, you tend to get odd splodges of low cloud that will reflect the pink or sometimes orangey-pink lights of the city from all angles and stand out from the darkness of the sky.” Still, pretty! “Odd splodges” or no.
